Biography

Signe

Signe started skating at the age of nine. She had no expectations to get far in skating because she already played soccer on a high level.

The first time she stepped on the ice, Signe ran from one side of the boards to the other. This was unusual for any beginner skater to race across the ice so quickly.

As she moved up through the beginner stages, she was constantly improving. A year later, Signe decided to join the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club to train with Petra Burka. Training with Petra got Signe up to the double axel. After Petra accepted the position of Coach Consultant of Skate Canada, Signe had to switch coaches. She turned to Petra's mother Ellen Burka.

Signe has now trained with Ellen for 5 years. During these years Ellen has been with Signe to 9 international competitions where she medalled 4 times. Signe has had a great past season and is striving for an even better one this year.
